Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onions and garlic until golden brown.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed onion and garlic, breadcrumbs, eggs, parsley, Parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and ketchup. Mix until well incorporated.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C) is reached.
  6. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
