  • 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough, thawed
  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 medium sweet onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, washed and sautéed
  • 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 4 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, heat 2 tbsp olive oil and sauté onions until translucent. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Stir in ground meat and cook until browned. Break up clumps with a spatula.
  4. Add sautéed spinach and mix well.
  5. Remove from heat; let cool slightly before adding feta cheese and beaten eggs.
  6. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the phyllo sheets brushed with remaining olive oil.
  7. Spread the filling over the phyllo layers and top with remaining phyllo sheets, brushing each layer with oil.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
