Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt (full-fat preferred)
- 3 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter or ghee (for brushing)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Gradually add warm water and yogurt, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into balls and flatten them into ovals about half an inch thick.
- Mix minced garlic with melted butter or ghee in a small bowl. Brush this mixture over one side of each naan.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan garlic side down for about 1-2 minutes or until bubbles form; flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
- Brush more garlic butter on top while still warm and serve immediately.
