  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt (full-fat preferred)
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter or ghee (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Gradually add warm water and yogurt, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  3. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into balls and flatten them into ovals about half an inch thick.
  4. Mix minced garlic with melted butter or ghee in a small bowl. Brush this mixture over one side of each naan.
  5. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan garlic side down for about 1-2 minutes or until bubbles form; flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
  6. Brush more garlic butter on top while still warm and serve immediately.
