Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 medium ripe pears, diced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse cranberries under cold water, discarding any damaged ones. Peel and dice pears, squeezing lemon juice over them to prevent browning.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, diced pears, sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon stick. Stir gently until ingredients are well mixed.
  3. Cook for about 10 minutes until the mixture begins bubbling and cranberries start to pop.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  5. If using walnuts, stir in during the last few minutes of cooking. Remove from heat and allow to cool before transferring to an airtight container.
