- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
- 8 oz dairy cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for drizzling)
Instructions
- 1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and mix with yeast and sugar; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- 2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Add melted butter, egg, and vanilla to the yeast mixture and mix well.
- 3. Gradually add flour to wet ingredients, stirring until combined. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
- 4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5. While dough rises, chop strawberries and mix with sugar; set aside to release juices.
- 6. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle, spread cream cheese evenly over it, then layer strawberries on top.
- 7. Roll tightly into a log; cut into equal pieces and place on a greased baking tray.
- 8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Let buns rise again for about 30 minutes before baking for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- 9. Drizzle with powdered sugar mixed with milk once cooled slightly.
