Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, sliced into thin strips
  • 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips. Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces and mince garlic and ginger.
  2. Heat a wok over medium-high heat until smoking. Add vegetable oil and let it shimmer.
  3. Sear the beef strips in the hot wok for about 3-4 minutes until browned but not overcooked. Remove from the pan.
  4. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the wok and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Return the cabbage to the wok with soy sauce and stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until wilted but still crunchy.
  6. Drizzle sesame oil over the stir fry, add green onions and red pepper flakes if desired. Toss to combine.
