Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • 4 slices rye or sourdough bread
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the secret sauce by mixing ketchup, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp of butter and sauté sliced onions until golden brown (about 10 minutes).
  3. Form ground beef into four patties slightly larger than the bread slices. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In the same skillet, cook patties for about 4-5 minutes per side until desired doneness. Top each patty with Swiss cheese during the last minute of cooking.
